STUDENTS 4 ECONOMIC & SOCIAL GENDER EQUALITY

EQUALITY of the GENDERS

Even in the 21st century, economic and social gender inequality exists. Local and statewide campaigns to reduce it can successfully increase awareness of current social issues, such as sexual harassment/assault, and the equality of the genders. Recently, the Rhode Island Senate approved a bill that aims in closing the gender and racial pay gap. By advocating for change through public campaigns, statewide testimony, supporting equality based legislation, and communication with elected officials, we hope to diminish the negative effects of the gender gaps, sexism, and sexual harassment experienced within our local community.
